Alfie's Story
From Professional Footballer to Founder — Alfie’s Journey
After years playing professional football — including for AFC Wimbledon, Sutton United, and clubs across the English leagues — Alfie Egan faced a moment every athlete eventually does: what comes next? With the same drive and discipline that fuelled his sporting career, Alfie stepped into recruitment and quickly discovered how transferable his skills were. Resilience. Discipline. Teamwork. A competitive edge. These qualities made him a natural in the business world. But something was missing. While helping others transition, Alfie saw a bigger need — thousands of athletes quietly facing the same uncertainty he once did, unsure of how to apply their skills beyond sport. That realisation led to the creation of Crossover Partners: a business built to guide athletes into new careers, and give businesses access to exceptional talent shaped by years of high performance. Crossover Partners isn’t built on theory. It’s built on lived experience — Alfie’s, and now the many athletes we help every day.
Joe's Story
From Recruitment to Something That Really Matters
After sixteen years in recruitment — including running my own construction-focused agency — I thought I’d seen it all. Then I got a call from my cousin Alfie, who was winding down his professional football career and looking for something new. He joined us on a trial, and it quickly became clear: the mindset he’d built through sport — resilience, discipline, focus — was exactly what the industry needed. We brought him on full time, and he rose fast, eventually becoming a Divisional Manager. When I left recruitment to launch my own business development consultancy, Alfie came to me with something different: the concept behind Crossover. A way to help athletes like him transition into meaningful careers, and to help businesses tap into a completely overlooked pool of high-performance talent. It was an easy yes. I’ve never been prouder — of Alfie, or of what we’re building together now.
